Hello, my name is Sydney and I will be serving as this year’s PVMA historian! I am from Chesterfield, MI near Lake St. Clair. This is my junior year as an Animal Science major with a pre-veterinary concentration. I have dual minors in Bioethics and Pharmacology and Toxicology. I am also a member of Lyman Briggs and the Honors College. At home, I work as a veterinary assistant at the Animal Clinic of Sterling Heights, and at school I am a research assistant in the Ernst Lab, which is currently doing research at MSU’s Swine Teaching and Research Center. Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in South Africa! For two weeks I worked with local veterinarians and wildlife conservationists to help provide care for cheetahs that were being reintroduced to the wild. This opportunity greatly broadened my horizons and allowed me to fully experience the scope of veterinary medicine. My goal is to work in emergency medicine, potentially as a mixed practitioner for small and large animals. When I am not studying or working, I love to go hiking, read, watch hockey, and bake. Please feel free to reach out if there’s anything that I can do to help you make the most of your PVMA experience!

My email is drwenck3@msu.edu
